We all live our lives online, but that doesn’t mean we need to be an open book. There’s a good chance that our every digital move is being tracked, analyzed, packaged, and sold to someone. You should take some basic steps of protection to save yourself from this data-gathering panopticon.

  • Stop location tracking: There’s a good chance Google knows where you’ve been and when you’ve been there. That’s because of a little feature called “Location History.”
  • Avoid those voice assistance: Those devices records your voice and other audio, plus a few seconds before, when you use audio activations like: ‘Ok Google’ or ‘Hey Alexa’.
  • Ditch Google search, Use DuckDuckGo: Stop using Google for search. Instead, use “DuckDuckGo”. The search engine that doesn’t track you.”
  • Enable two-factor authentication: Nothing will be private if your account gets hacked. Turning on MFA as additional form of account security, will help prevent security breaches & account takeovers.

There are many other preventive measures as well but doing these few things helps you towards making your data safe and browse securely over unsecure network — Internet.

Stay Safe, Stay Secure. Have a happy and Cyber Secure 2020.
